Clearwater, Fla. – The city of Clearwater is seeking to assist residents who are behind on their mortgage and utility payments due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Beginning April 5, 2021, through a partnership with Suncoast Housing Connection, the city of Clearwater will begin accepting applications for the Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program.

This program will assist qualifying Clearwater residents who have fallen behind on their mortgage payments and those who are in mortgage forbearance programs with their lender amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Foreclosure counseling is also available under this program.

Applicants will need to provide proof of loss of income due to COVID-19, live in the city of Clearwater, and have a mortgage that is past due. Applicants must have a household income lower than 80 percent of the Area Median Income:

In addition, those receiving funding from the mortgage program may also be provided assistance with past due electric bills and past due water/sewer bills payable to Pinellas County Utilities. Due to funding source restrictions, this assistance does not apply to city of Clearwater utility bills.
